PORCHER HOUSE

One of the most historic buildings is the Porcher House. The Porcher family were Brevard's largest citrus growers, and Mr. Porcher was the first to wash, inspect and grade his citrus crop. His wife had her own career as the first postmistress of Merritt Island. The house has been fully restored and may be rented for weddings and other catered events. Central Brevard Public Library & Reference Center

Just a couple blocks north of the village and easy walking distance is the Central Brevard Public Library & Reference Center. By the way, back in the 1980's the library use to be where the Cocoa Civic Center is today!

Teabeau-Field Library, Florida Historical Society

The old Federal building in Cocoa Village was renovated during the late 1990s to host the museum and library for the Florida Historical Society. They have really old maps and books and post cards and ... Don't forget to visit their gift shop where you can buy rare books about Florida. Visit their website at www.florida-historical-soc.org

Lee Wenner Park

At the north end of the river walk and next to the bridge to Merritt Island is a 12-acre community river park with an active 4-lane boat launch site and a T shape dock for day boat visitors to tie to. On site is a The Coast Guard Auxiliary Building that also features a meeting room available to rent. There is a large pavilion w/ barbeque pit, picnic tables, rest rooms and playground are conveniently situated for group activity. A section of the old bridge was preserved to create a 500' pier allowing fishing out over the Indian River.

River Walk & River Front Park

The area adjacent to the river and next to Taylor Park was renovated to be a community area with water fountains, concert area, and more.

A nice boardwalk wraps around the river front from Lee Wenner Park, past Taylor Park and the band shell area to behind the old St Mark's Church.

Civic Center

The old downtown library was renovated to a civic center in the early 1990s by the City of Cocoa and is used frequently for shows like antique fairs and crafts and more. See Also: http://www.cocoavillage.com/civiccenter

Cocoa Village Play House
